Junkmail's mission is to ensure that everyone has easy access to high quality basics, and this isn't just our customers. For every subscription we sell, we donate a fresh pair of undies to people experiencing homelessness throughout Australia.
Not all people have the luxury of putting on clean underwear every day. In fact, people on the streets can go months without putting a fresh pair on. So although new undies might seem like a small thing in the scheme of homelessness, starting the day on the right foot can do more than you'd imagine.
We have partnered with Orange Sky and Pass It On Clothing to donate hundreds of pairs throughout Melbourne and Sydney in 2019.
Junkmail staff personally deliver the underwear at the sites set up by these amazing not-for-profits, so you know they'll be going directly to people who need it the most. We'll be endeavouring to send you the location and date of where they went, as well as stories of the recipients where possible.
Help us help yourself, and someone in need below.
Junkmail Undies is committed to protecting the place where we all wear our undies – the planet. After all, it is the only place we have to live. We are on a path to becoming a fully sustainable brand, but we aren't there yet. We will be open and honest with everything we're doing right here.
Our undies are posted to you in recyclable paper bags, which are made from recycled materials. The bags are certified FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) Mixed.
These paper mailers are made from FSC certified wood pulp and are both compostable and recyclable. Further information about this certification, and the FSC in general, can be found here.
We have written a blog post about the new packaging, and how it benefits the environment relative to other types of packaging at the Junkmail Undies Blog.
We are in the process of transitioning our product to 95% organic cotton, and 5% elastane. All maroon undies are made from organic cotton and a majority of the black are also organic cotton. You will see an 'organic cotton' label on the inside of the underwear to indicate that it's made from this.
Organic cotton is better for the environment, and better for your skin.
All our organic cotton underwear is certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). The supply chain for GOTS textiles must be compliant to a high level of environmental and social criteria.
