1. What are the undies made of?
Our undies are made from 95% cotton and 5% spandex. We use the highest quality cotton to ensure that you enjoy that soft and snug feeling you get when you put your favourite pair of undies on. Think about the softest pair of Bonds you had growing up, and then add about 20% softness - that's where we are. This high quality cotton is built to last as well. It does not pill and holds its shape for an unusual (unusually terrific) amount of time, when it's cared for correctly.
2. What about the fit?
We spent years researching the most comfortable fit, with the goal that you don't want to notice your undies once you put them on. So after this initial comforting feeling you get putting on high quality cotton, you won't notice them again until you have to take them off. We just want to support you in all the right places, and not be noticed other than that. It's not our job to stand out - that's for your pants.
3. What is the look of the Junkmail undies like?
You can see these in all their glory on the products page at www.junkmail.com.au/products/trunks or www.junkmail.com.au/products/briefs.
The look of the undies is very important to us. Yes, they hide under your pants. But you need to be proud to pull down your pants when required, and this happens more than you'd think. Our briefs are a low-rise brief for this reason, but we make it high enough that it doesn't skimp on comfort. And our trunks are a relatively short leg trunk, so that we don't look like bike shorts. Although our trunk legs are shorter than some, we've added custom stitching in the legs to ensure they don't ride up in places you don't want them to.
It's extremely important for us that you feel, and look, terrific. Because why would settle for a pair of undies that only did one of these things?
4. What is the elastic band made from?
We use the highest quality elastic band on the market, and make sure that it is tight enough that it's always there for you, but also soft and supple so it doesn't pinch you - or make you feel restricted.
5. What’s the difference between the trunks and briefs?
The briefs are what are sometimes called y-fronts, and the trunks are the mini-shorts (Europeans may call them shorts). We recommend the briefs to be better for activity and exercise, and trunks better for social wear. However, it is very much a personal preference, so if you don't already have one, why not try a pair of each?
6. How do I care for the undies?
We recommend washing in warm water and not tumble drying - this will just assure that the undies hold their shape for longer. The cotton has stood the test of time for years of washing and they are such a strong quality that there will not be holes forming anytime too soon, and the body of the underwear will not tear away from the band like so many undies do.
7. Can I wear them straight away?
You can, but it is highly recommended to wash them before use.
8. What size is right for me?
We have a size guide on the product page which explains this in detail. As a general rule, if you are in between sizes, we'd recommend going a size up in the briefs, and a size down in the trunks. Your first order does come with our money-back guarantee however, so if the sizing is an issue, just email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll get the correct size to you free of charge. You can even keep the wrong size, we certainly don't need your used undies back!
9. Does your underwear have a fly?
No. We're of the opinion that once you are going for a number 1, you can generally pull the elastic down to whip out your utensil. Our elastic is certainly forgiving enough that this won't cause any issues. Not having a fly allows us to give an extra bump of support in the areas you need it.
10. Can you please explain the make up of the front of the undies?
First of all, thanks for asking so nicely. Secondly, we have double cotton support in the front seams of the underwear. The cotton is a lower gsm (means it's a bit thinner) in this area, because there are two pieces of it. We didn't want to suffocate the area with cotton that is too thick, but we did want to give you the right amount of support. All of these thoughts went through our heads when deciding on the final product design. Trust us, we tried a lot of different options!
1. Can you explain the subscription to me?
The subscription simply means that we will post undies to you on a regular schedule - so that you never have to shop for them again. You can choose to order however many pairs you like, and then choose to have them delivered every 1, 2, 3, 4 or 6 months. This means that we'll send that many pairs, on the frequency you chose. If you order 3 pairs every 3 months on January 8, your next delivery will be April 8, and the one after that, July 8 and so on.
You are free to cancel your subscription at any time you like. You can also change the frequency, the colours of the undies or the style. You'll sign up for a login where all of this is possible with a few clicks of the mouse (or your finger on a mobile).
We use ReCharge Payments as the subscription provider. They will simply charge you on the schedule you requested, and as soon as that is cleared, we'll send the undies out to you. It means you'll always have fresh undies in your drawer, and you never have to do anything to get them. It's a surprisingly good feeling.
2. Why would I subscribe?
If you are one of those guys that often has a pair of see-through undies, or worse, the subscription would be for you. If you're one of those people that intend to buy new undies when you go to the shops, and then forget, the subscription would be for you. If you fear commitment, the subscription would still be for you because you can cancel anytime you like - no questions asked.
It's a simple way to ensure that your underwear drawer is always stocked with fresh, comfy undies and you never have to do anything to get them. On top of this, you actually save money ordering this way, and we donate a pair to the homeless for every subscriber.
3. Can I choose how my subscription looks?
Absolutely. Choose whatever colours, styles and sizes you want and once you've completed your order, you'll be given the option to set up an account. Once this has been set up, you can change any part of it you like. This means you can update your colours or style, change how frequently they're delivered to you, change your payment method, change your address etc. Think you get the point.
4. Is a subscription safe?
100%. It's the same as any other type of online purchase in that we use certified payment gateways, they simply charge when you've requested at the set up. If you ever need to cancel, or change payment frequency, this can be done in a few simple clicks - and will take effect immediately.
5. Can I change a subscription package?
Yep, absolutely. If you want to change your size, your style, or the colours of the underwear you receive, just log in to your account, and the button you need will be right there.
6. Can I cancel my subscription?
Sure, cancel any time. We won’t take it personally. Well maybe we will a touch, but don't worry about our feelings.
7. When will I get my additional subscription rounds?
We post (with Australia Post) within 24 hours of payment. If you subscribe, we'll charge on the monthly schedule of your choice. If you order for delivery every 3 months on the 14th of the April, your second package will be charged and sent on the 14th of July.
8. When will my credit card be charged?
We take the first payment as soon as you order with Junkmail. Subscription orders will be taken on the same day of the month in the future.
9. What if I have enough undies?
You can change your subscription at any time to receive underwear less (or more) frequently. You can even cancel it, or put it on hold, anytime you like. It's completely up to you and we won't stop you from doing anything.
10. How do I log in to my account?
Simply click on the circle with a face silhouette in the top right corner of your screen. If you've previously registered for an account, you can just log in. If you have not registered, you'll just need to set one in from the link below the log in box.
11. I’m locked out of my account!
No dramas at all, hit the password reset button and we'll send you an email immediately to fix this. If there are still issues, send us an email through the Contact page and we'll get right back to you.
12. How do I find order history?
This is all maintained in your account in the login page.
13. How do I cancel the subscription?
Once again, just go to your login page and follow the links. Given there are a whole host of reasons people cancel, we don't even try to hide it or make it hard for you. Send us an email at email@example.com if you're having any dramas - we won't bite.
The Junkmail Guarantee
1. What do you mean when you say ‘my purchase is risk-free?'
Our 60 day money-back guarantee on your first pair means that you can try the undies on, wear them however you want, and if you don't love them after 60 days - we'll refund your money immediately. We can't think of any shop that this happens at (particularly for underwear), it's just one more way we're trying to make the underwear shopping experience even easier for you.
2. Can you tell me about your money-back guarantee?
Yes, we can - thanks for asking. We're so confident you'll love our undies that if you buy them and don't like them for any reason, we'll give you a complete refund. You can even keep them (we certainly don't want them). This offer is on the first pair of each style ordered for every new customer. So you can try our trunks and briefs, and both come with a guarantee that you'll love them, or we'll refund your money.
Soooooo, if you don't believe the reviews and don't want to risk it to get the biscuit; we recommend trying one pair first and adding more once you've worn them.
3. Do you offer returns?
If you make a boo-boo and order the wrong size or style, shoot us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible, and we'll arrange a switch - we'll cover even cover the postage ;)
If the package is unopened, we will accept returns. However, for the sake of everyone and their hygiene, we won't accept opened package returns. In this instance, we'll almost certainly be kind and allow you to keep them. You're welcome.
4. What if I make an error in my order?
Just like everything else we do, we'll make this as easy as possible for you. Send us an email at email@example.com as soon as you realise. If they've already been sent to you, we'll help you in sending them back to us (we'll cover the cost).
If they haven't left our packing facility, that's easy, we'll just make sure the right size gets sent to you!
1. How do I pay for my order?
You can pay via credit or debit card, or PayPal and this goes for the one-off purchasing or the subscription. This will then just be debited out of your account and the goods will be sent on their way.
All subscription orders will be automatically debited when your next round of subscription is due. You can cancel the subscription anytime before this date.
2. What forms of payment do you accept?
Credit card, debit card or PayPal are all accepted by us. If you need another form of payment to sort out the goods, just shoot us an email at
firstname.lastname@example.org, we will accept direct bank deposits.
3. My promo code isn’t working
That’s technically not a question, but not to worry. Simply email us at email@example.com. Even if you go through with the purchase, and we can verify it's a valid promo code, we'll refund that amount of your order directly to your account.
4. I’m worried about my security with online purchases.
Again, that's not a question but no worries at all. We use Stripe, Braintree, Shopify Payments and PayPal to act as a gateway so we do not store your credit card information. We also have all the latest SSL certificates and internet security so you can sleep at night know you’ll only be charged when you get excellent product in return.
Even with the subscription, we do not store your card details. This is all handled by the our very professional friends at
Stripe, Braintree, Shopify Payments and PayPal.
5. How do I resolve a failed payment on my account?
Just log in to your account and click on the Payments tab. Here, it will be an easy process of adding in a new card or PayPal login so that we can get the fresh undies out to you.
We'll also send you an email with a link to where you can sort your payment out.
6. How do I update or delete my payment info for a subscription?
Just log in to your account and click on the Payments tab. Here, it will be an easy process of adding in a new card or PayPal login so that we can get the fresh undies out to you.
If you don't have an account, click on the Account link on the top right of the screen (silhouette face) and there is a link near the bottom of the page that says 'Click here.' Simply click on that and away you go, you'll just have to follow the prompts.
Returns and Exchanges
1. Do you offer returns and exchanges?
Absolutely! We're here to make life as easy as possible for you. If you've got the wrong size, send us an email and we'll work out the best way to swap it over for you. There will be absolutely no charge to you either, so if you make an error in ordering - don't be shy to own up to it. We won't judge!
2. How do I return something?
This depends on where you live, but we can assure you we'll make it as easy as possible for you to fix it up. Send us an email or notification on the live chat, and we'll work it out with you straight away. More often than not, it will be a very simple trip to the local post office (we'll cover the charge of course).
Delivery and shipping
1. How is my order delivered to me?
All our undies are packaged in our environmentally friendly paper bags. We package them up right here in Australia and then take a trip to Australia Post for them to deliver them.
They are sent as a letter and all packages will fit in your letterbox. While they used to be sent in clear packaging, we now send them in a brown paper mailer so no concerns about people seeing what's in your bag (although it does say Junkmail Undies on the front...so that might be a slight giveaway).
2. How long once I order until I get my jocks?
As soon as we get your order, we get to packing it - that is done right here in Australia. Within 24 hours, it will be at Australia Post. Generally, they will take 1-2 days to deliver to major cities, and up to 5 days for rural areas. If you have ordered and don't receive the packages in this time, send us a message and we'll get right on it.
If you order from a country other than Australia, please allow 2-3 weeks for your package to arrive.
3. Do you charge for delivery?
Delivery is 100% free in Australia, always. We do charge for international shipping at this stage, and the charges for these international rates are clearly outlined at checkout.
As you may be able to tell with our pricing, we're not an electricity company trying to hide fees and charges wherever we can. What you see when you add to cart and see at the checkout is what you get, that's our promise to you.
4. Will I get a heads up when the delivery is on its way?
Yep, you'll be notified as soon as they are shipped. We can send this over email, text or Messenger - just choose the option in the checkout of your order.
5. Do I need to be home to accept the delivery?
Nope. Because we post them as a letter, they'll fit right in your letterbox (in most cases). If the postie is having issues with this, they may leave a card for you to pick up from the post office, but that is rare.
1. Do you ship outside of Australia?
Yes, absolutely - the whole world should be able to experience the comfort that us Aussies do. If you're purchasing from outside Australia, you will be charged for shipping. And please also allow 2-3 weeks for your package to arrive to areas outside of Australia.
2. How much is shipping outside of Australia?
Shipping varies from country to country. The cost of shipping is outlined clearly for your country on the checkout. Please note the price on the website is stated in AUD.
Homeless underwear donations
1. How do I become a partner for your homeless donations?
We're always looking to get more partners on board who can help us deliver undies to the homeless. In the end, we want to get them to all parts of the country to help out everyone who is experiencing homelessness. Please send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org if you think you can help us here.
2. How do I know my underwear purchase has been accompanied by a donation?
We track all of our orders and donations, so you will not only know that they are being delivered, but you'll be notified of exactly where your pair was donated within Australia. The Junkmail staff personally deliver them so we get to know the people we are delivering to, and we can see the delight when giving them away.
3. Will I be able to see where it is donated?
Yes, absolutely. We track each order and the delivery of the undies to the people experiencing homelessness. We'll send you an email as soon as your pair has been donated to let you know where they have gone.
4. How do I help the homeless other than my purchase?
There are a number of great not-for-profits out there who do amazing work in the area, and we have partnered with some of these. Doing volunteer work with these organisations, or donating money, can be great ways to help. We're more than happy to introduce you to our partners, so please send us an email and we'll be more than happy to help you out.
1. Is the packaging compostable or recyclable?
Yes, we have introduced new packaging will be recyclable and compostable. The packaging will be FSC Mixed certified (
) and is a sustainable solution moving forward. We have more information on our Impact page (https://www.junkmail.com.au/pages/our-mission
) and have written a blog article for more detail around it too.
This is the first step we are taking to ensure we become a fully sustainable brand. There are further exciting works in progress and we will be updating these as openly and honestly as we can on the Our Impact page.
2. How is Junkmail helping the environment?
Our underwear is in transition to organic cotton and from January 10, 2020, a majority of the pairs delivered will be 95% organic cotton and 5% spandex (some old stock that was non-organic cotton will continue to be delivered until they are out of stock). These new pairs are GOTS (Global Organic Textile) certified, and you can again find more information out on the Impact page. Keep an eye on our blog for more in depth articles as well.
It's very important to us that we contribute to a positive world moving forward. Although underwear seems like a small thing, we can introduce the right practices to make sure we are leaving the world in a better place than before we started.
